Speaker:Just, just, just does.
Speaker:Don't worry about it.
Speaker:Anyway, so we're gonna dive in today.
Speaker:We got a really, really special show.
Speaker:I'm going to introduce you to five of my friends.
Speaker:And they have a podcast they put together, and we're gonna talk about
Speaker:the ins and outs of such a large podcast and how they pulled it all together.
Speaker:We're gonna talk about their flow.
Speaker:Welcome to this edition of The Flow.
Speaker:Once again, I am Doc Rock, community manager for Ecamm.
Speaker:Let me introduce you to the Creators' Pod.
Speaker:Ladies and gentlemen, The Creators' Pod.
Speaker:Yay.
Speaker:The crowd goes wild.
Speaker:What's up, y'all?
Speaker:Okay, so the way this works is for the people who are watching,
Speaker:I have all of them on screen.
Speaker:Keely to my left, Michelle to my right, Rich directly under Keely, Dina
Speaker:under me, and Alec under Michelle.
Speaker:If you're not watching this, you're probably gonna want to catch this
Speaker:one on the YouTube channel, which is Ecamm Live on YouTube, and just
Speaker:watch the replay, because trust me, it's gonna be amazing and you kind
Speaker:of should be here at 12:00 PM noon.
Speaker:So just a reminder, if you haven't been watching this live, the live tapings
Speaker:happen at 12:00 PM every Tuesday.
Speaker:Jump over on our YouTube channel and you can watch the live recording.
Speaker:Come and bring your questions live.
Speaker:Let's dive right into the creative part.
Speaker:So I'm gonna start with Keely.
Speaker:Real quick, Keels, what in tarnation were you thinking when
Speaker:you guys decided to create this?
Speaker:Oh man, I have no idea.
Speaker:I think part of the impetus was that we as a creator's group had been
Speaker:working together for several months, probably about eight at the time that
Speaker:we started talking about this and, you know, we're, we're always bouncing
Speaker:off ideas and absorbing things that are happening in the Creator space
Speaker:and we were seeing this whole build in public movement and talk about
Speaker:how you're building things in public.
Speaker:And we thought, wait, we're building something, we should bring it to public
Speaker:as well and talk about our process in being a mastermind group because we've
Speaker:got a really cool thing going and we want to be able to share it out to the
Speaker:world and see if other people can get inspired to do their thing as well.
Speaker:Pretty impressive.
Speaker:Now, Alec, this is amazing to me because Alec is working on fumes.
Speaker:He hasn't slept yet, but, I just find this part of the conversation funny.
Speaker:So I wanna know how you guys settled on the apostrophe outside the s.
Speaker:We haven't settled on anything of the sort.
Speaker:alec!
Speaker:No, it's just funny.
Speaker:So, no Alec, what has been the most technically challenging part of putting
Speaker:together a podcast with five creators?
Speaker:Well just actually just the recording of it and not treading on each other.
Speaker:There's something about like, when you're in a natural sort of free
Speaker:flowing conversation, it's very easy to just sit there and sort
Speaker:of bounce things off one another.
Speaker:But when you kind of focused on not stepping on top of each other
Speaker:for recordings, that I guess has been the sort of biggest thing.
Speaker:And we've probably just been overthinking it cuz we've, I think we've got that
Speaker:a bit more in check now, but what was kind of the biggest herdle, I suppose.
Speaker:Actually the process of actually recording it as well was, you know, Rich was the one
Speaker:that sort of set all of that up and came up with the idea of how we're actually
Speaker:gonna do it because there was a couple of things that we need to think about
Speaker:that from the recording point of view.
Speaker:So perhaps Rich can fill you in on he approach he came up with for that.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Shout out to Rich because Rich man, I mean, he like to coin a
Speaker:term that you say he bodied that.
Speaker:Can I unmute yet?
Speaker:Is it okay?
Speaker:Okay, go ahead.
Speaker:Go ahead, Rich, tell us about how you came up with your process.
Speaker:What exactly is your flow?
Speaker:Yeah, I have to sneak that in.
Speaker:Sorry.
Speaker:We need five separated ISO video files and everybody has an M one machine, I think.
Speaker:And I have two.
Speaker:So My M one across the room is where I record the whole thing that looks
Speaker:kinda like this with five circles in it.
Speaker:And I actually record on my other machine where I'm sitting at my single file.
Speaker:So, and I use screen sharing on the Mac to control that, you know, start
Speaker:it and stop it and that kinda stuff.
Speaker:That's it.
Speaker:And then we end up with that master recording of all five of us, and then we
Speaker:have five separate files of each person.
Speaker:You know, let me dive into that real quick.
Speaker:Here's the power of what's going on in the world today, and a lot of people
Speaker:won't wrap their head around it.
Speaker:There's someone sitting around right now trying to figure out how
Speaker:to do something of this nature, and they're doing it with a older laptop.
Speaker:That, you know, maybe they spent, you know, three grand on, right?
Speaker:The last Intel machine, if you bought the baseline sort of MacBook Pro
Speaker:at that time was 15 point whatever inches, you would've spent about 27
Speaker:99, so close to three grand, right?
Speaker:At this point in time, you could get three Mac Minis for 1800 bucks.
Speaker:And build an amazing studio that can do things like have one to record X
Speaker:position on, another thing to do your main show on and another to control it.
Speaker:So a lot of people probably just need to rethink their approach and with the
Speaker:resale value on Macs, you could easily sell an Intel notebook right now for at
Speaker:least the 5 79 it costs to get one M one.
Speaker:And that single M one will run circles around anything that you using.
Speaker:And that machine's two years old now, so you can even get them cheap
Speaker:because we're pretty sure that the M two Mac Mini is dropping very soon.
Speaker:I mean, extremely, very soon.
Speaker:So if you're struggling with power, do yourself a favor and
Speaker:just double up the machines.
Speaker:I'm running off of two machines myself.
Speaker:One's a Mac studio and one's a baseline Mac Mini.
Speaker:Well, there's also something to be said for Ecamm itself, because with
Speaker:the new beta we can get five guests.
Speaker:Or we can get 10, but we can get five people on stream at once
Speaker:or six like we're doing now.
Speaker:You can't do that if you don't have an M one, so.
Speaker:I'm glad you said that.
Speaker:I didn't wanna say that cuz I don't wanna make it look like
Speaker:a commercial, but thanks Rich.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:So, Michelle, I wanna ask you a question.
Speaker:That is probably the thing that I'm sure a lot of our listeners
Speaker:are gonna have on their mind.
Speaker:Scheduling.
Speaker:Like, how do you schedule something like this?
Speaker:Especially for you, someone who is basically in a first responder type
Speaker:position and your schedule is insane.
Speaker:Uh, lots of prayer.
Speaker:So scheduling this has been interesting.
Speaker:We pretty much do it at the same time every time, and I've made
Speaker:this time a priority for me.
Speaker:However, however, I'm on my lunch break just in case.
Speaker:Anybody looking?
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:I'm on my lunch break.
Speaker:So I'm literally hiding in the bathroom.
Speaker:No . But, uh, but yeah, it just, it gets to a point where, you know,
Speaker:we agree on a time and that's it.
Speaker:It's like, all right, this is the time we communicate a lot, and I
Speaker:made this time a priority for me, so I know exactly what I'm doing.
Speaker:Every Wednesday at 7:00 PM my time, we're recording this podcast.
Speaker:So it's just, you know, making a decision.
Speaker:We just did it.
Speaker:We just said, okay, this is what we're gonna do and this
Speaker:is the time we're gonna do it.
Speaker:And I show up.
Speaker:So there you have it.
Speaker:No, I love that.
Speaker:I love that.
Speaker:And I think that's something that people struggle with.
Speaker:And I think in our group we kind of laugh at the pod fade squad
Speaker:because we are all bandaid rippers.
Speaker:We're all just like rip the bandaid.
Speaker:Just do it.
Speaker:Like you.
Speaker:There shouldn't be such a thing as pod fade, but there is because there
Speaker:are legitimately people who like hit that seven episode brick wall.
Speaker:You guys just broke seven episodes, right, Dina?
Speaker:Yes, we did.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:So you guys already passed Pod Fade.
Speaker:You already passed Pod Fade.
Speaker:So I guess for, for Dina, what is sort of the process in coming
Speaker:up with the topic for the week?
Speaker:It's been easy because it's just whatever we've, we've been struggling with.
Speaker:It seems that there's two of us generally that are working in the same
Speaker:area or having the same questions, so it's, Oh, hey, we need to talk
Speaker:about, uh, Strategy for socials.
Speaker:Yeah, me too.
Speaker:Okay, let's just talk about that one on Wednesday.
Speaker:And it's a slam dunk.
Speaker:So it's really just tossing ideas out and saying, Yeah, that's a common problem.
Speaker:Or I can add value to that conversation.
Speaker:Let's do that one.
Speaker:You know, I like the, the way you say that.
Speaker:Now, here's the thing that you've spoken about.
Speaker:Um, I don't think it's a big deal, but since it's in your head,
Speaker:I want to help you get it out.
Speaker:How would you describe your mental state coming in as a Creator on
Speaker:Creators Pod when you self labeled yourself as a beginning Creator?
Speaker:Oh, by the time we thought of Creators Pod, I was over that.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:That's what I wanted to hear.
Speaker:Sorry, that was a sneaky coach question in the middle of this show.
Speaker:No, in fact, not to toot my own horn, but this was my idea.
Speaker:I was talking to
Speaker:shut the front door.
Speaker:We need to do a podcast.
Speaker:It was, All right, let's go find the other kids.
Speaker:So you what?
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:Who else wants to play
Speaker:I didn't even know that.
Speaker:And then we had to launch it the day before Leap.
Speaker:That was the deadline we had.
Speaker:So we had like five days to put it together.
Speaker:It worked out great.
Speaker:Oh, okay.
Speaker:Let's, Okay.
Speaker:I'm like therapy guy.
Speaker:Let's expound upon that.
Speaker:Um, what made you guys picked Leap as a deadline?
Speaker:You gotta pick one.
Speaker:We wanted to impress our coach.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Daddy, Daddy, Daddy.
Speaker:Daddy.
Speaker:Do you like all you think Daddy?
Speaker:I don't have my tissues right now,
Speaker:It just felt like the right thing to do.
Speaker:That is, No, that's pretty impressive.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:We, we, we were watching the momentum and the conversations and, you know,
Speaker:we talk about trend jacking and how to, you know, get on something
Speaker:that everybody's talking about.
Speaker:That wasn't really the point.
Speaker:It was like, oh, this is something where there's a lot of buzz
Speaker:and a lot of momentum building.
Speaker:And if you believe in it, if you're taking in those messages and saying, I agree with
Speaker:what Doc and Luis and everybody are saying about video podcasting and podcasting
Speaker:in general, well, why wouldn't we and why wouldn't we take that momentum and
Speaker:set a date on it and just get her done?
Speaker:I love this.
Speaker:You wanna say something, Dina?
Speaker:No, she said it.
Speaker:I'm good.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:Okay, so here's something that I want everyone who is listening
Speaker:to this podcast or everyone who is here for the live taping.
Speaker:I want you to write something down in your notes.
Speaker:If you're taking notes.
Speaker:If you're not taking notes, you should be, even if they're mental notes.
Speaker:At the end of every time you're listening to a podcast or listening to a live
Speaker:stream or watching some sort of training, when you're at the bottom of your
Speaker:notes, leave yourself a single line.
Speaker:Or, what I like to do is put it at the top so when I see the note
Speaker:randomly, it's the first thing I see put an actionable item on that list.
Speaker:Do not just take a bunch of notes.
Speaker:Like her name is Keely.
Speaker:Her name is Dina.
Speaker:His name is Rich.
Speaker:His name is Alec.
Speaker:Her name is Michelle.
Speaker:They're the Creators' Pod.
Speaker:They made a podcast.
Speaker:Like if you're taking these notes, that's cool, but the actionable item
Speaker:that, like one that I just picked up right now and it could change is Keely
Speaker:mentioned when you are listening to these things and you decide to trend jack,
Speaker:give yourself a deadline and go for it.
Speaker:Like they, they legitimately took all the comments and the vibe around Leap.
Speaker:They turned it into an action item and then they actioned
Speaker:it secretly behind my back.
Speaker:And somehow I didn't know until like episode three.
Speaker:Let's talk about that.
Speaker:Well, what had happened was, What had happened was we
Speaker:were saying, You know what?
Speaker:Everybody talking about it, Let's be about it.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:So that's basically what we did.
Speaker:We're like, All right, let's do this.
Speaker:It, you know, how hard can it be?
Speaker:We just all sitting around talking, We do this all the time.
Speaker:We do this.
Speaker:How hard can it be?
Speaker:That's the beginning of every bad story.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:And, and, and look, we have all this information now that we're sharing with
Speaker:everyone because how hard can it be?
Speaker:Aha.
Speaker:Hold my beer.
Speaker:Let's go.
Speaker:I think there was also the element of the, the challenge that we were really gonna
Speaker:do this independently and you know, you're a fantastic coach and we, we love working
Speaker:with you, but we also wanted to just have that little bit of separation at the start
Speaker:so that we could really find our own feet and then be like, Hi, what do you think?
Speaker:Not cut the umbilical cord.
Speaker:Oh my goodness.
Speaker:Plus when we started, When we started this, Doc was MIA a bunch of times.
Speaker:So we had to fill the space doing something.
Speaker:True dat.
Speaker:Cuz I was running, I was running around the country, hanging out
Speaker:with you and other folks, right?
Speaker:And Keely, actually.
Speaker:So dude, I just think it's so cool and here's a thing that
Speaker:I love about the conversation.
Speaker:This is important to me.
Speaker:Whenever your podcast, no matter what your podcast's about, this is
Speaker:everyone, you always wanna make your listener feel like they're in the room.
Speaker:Now, granted, I have a different advantage because I talk to these
Speaker:people so much that I feel they're in my head all the time anyway.
Speaker:Sometimes I'm about to do something on Discord and I freak out cuz I'm
Speaker:like, yo, if I mess this thing up, Keely's gonna curse me out, . So like
Speaker:I've been sitting there hedging my bets about what I should be doing.
Speaker:So I already have that thing.
Speaker:But when I'm listening to you guys, I'm in my kitchen, I'm doing
Speaker:something or I'm, you know, driving around in the car with Bob's.
Speaker:I am legit talking to you guys and it's funny to me because one of the things
Speaker:I always say to her is that Dina can't hear you yelling at the tv, right?
Speaker:Cause she's watching Dina's stream, she's telling Dina don't drink and then cut
Speaker:vegetables cuz she might cut her finger.
Speaker:And I swear to you, 10 minutes later, Dina knicked off her finger.
Speaker:And then mother-in-law is like, see, I told you, Dina.
Speaker:And then so I'm yelling at you guys in the car.
Speaker:And she just looking at me like, Oh, okay.
Speaker:Pot kettle, what's up with that?
Speaker:You know?
Speaker:So I love the way that you find a way to bring people in intentional,
Speaker:or you just having a conversation with yourself knowing that there's
Speaker:another use somewhere else?
Speaker:I think we are just talking the way we often do, you know, anyway.
Speaker:That's the thing about it is I think that comes across in it just because
Speaker:that's what, that's what we've been doing for months anyway, is just all getting
Speaker:together and sharing our, our thoughts, our mistakes, things we're thinking about
Speaker:and things we're trying out basically.
Speaker:And so, yeah, it's just, that was the point of it really was to open
Speaker:the door to let other people in on that because, let everyone else
Speaker:learn from our mistakes as well.
Speaker:It is super organic conversation and Rich is always the voice
Speaker:of reason in any conversation.
Speaker:So, um, do you, do you ever feel, Rich, like that if you throw the
Speaker:voice of reason monkey wrench, like if it's gonna throw things off, or
Speaker:is it just you're just being Rich?
Speaker:I guess, I don't know what you mean.
Speaker:Am I really the voice of reason?
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Well, because they'll be, everybody will be talking about something and you have a,
Speaker:a, maybe it's from experience from being a graphic designer, but you have a good way
Speaker:of thinking of the other possibilities.
Speaker:And maybe that's something cuz as designers we're always doing iterations
Speaker:and you'll often throw the different point of view or you'll, you'll, you'll
Speaker:just catch things that I, I think other people don't see and that, that leads to
Speaker:really epic turns in the, in the show.
Speaker:So I was wondering if you did it on purpose or is that just naturally you?
Speaker:I guess it's a natural thing, cuz I still dunno what you're talking about.
Speaker:Our conversations are pretty organic.
Speaker:Like last night, 12 hours ago, we were all on Discord and we all just happened
Speaker:to show up at the same time with you.
Speaker:And while you, we were, I forgot to even forgot what we were doing, but you
Speaker:know, we're in four time zones in the North America and another time zone on
Speaker:the other side of the planet, so it's.
Speaker:It's kind of weird that we keep bumping into each other, so, Cause
Speaker:we're really on different schedules.
Speaker:It's almost like we've been doing it for 10 months now and
Speaker:we're just continuing to do it.
Speaker:Another what had happened was, I heard the ding, ding, ding.
Speaker:You know that sound that you hear when there's a notification?
Speaker:I'm like, Ooh, who in there?
Speaker:Oh, Doc in here.
Speaker:Okay, hold up.
Speaker:Let me go ahead and get in there.
Speaker:What up, son?
Speaker:Say What's up?
Speaker:Well, how you doing?
Speaker:Next thing you.
Speaker:Rich pulls up, or no, Alec pulls up.
Speaker:It was Alec pulled up.
Speaker:You know, we're just sitting there, just shooting the breeze, just talking
Speaker:what, like, what we always do and then they're like, Hey, everybody else, look.
Speaker:Come on over.
Speaker:We, we just, we having a little party and we just, you know, it just happens
Speaker:organically all the time for us.
Speaker:And it's, it's really nice that, you know, it blossomed into what you see today.
Speaker:I think it is extremely helpful and yes, Rich it is naturally you, I kind
Speaker:of knew that, but I just wanted to make sure anybody listening would know
Speaker:whether you guys do everything completely organically or whether there's any sort
Speaker:of drive to go to a particular place.
Speaker:That was more the question, but yeah, that, that is naturally you.
Speaker:The only thing, a lot of, a lot of these people here except for me, are scared of
Speaker:Keely, but I'm not so I'll, I'll tell her.
Speaker:I'll tell her.
Speaker:No apostrophe.
Speaker:And he'll still be wrong.
Speaker:This is the best part.
Speaker:You know, I, I like the thing that you said, Michelle, about the notification
Speaker:and sort of how we all get together.
Speaker:And I would tell anybody who's doing any type of creative work that one of the
Speaker:best things you could do is get in a...
Speaker:Here comes, here comes, and I'm not even trying to pull a buck here...
Speaker:Get in a creator's pod.
Speaker:Like find a group of creators that you align with and find ways to work together.
Speaker:Because I tell you what was really funny about our conversation yesterday,
Speaker:while we were in the Discord for about the last hour, hour and a
Speaker:half, we weren't even talking.
Speaker:Everybody was working on their own thing.
Speaker:And then I, Rich or Alex said, Hey, I gotta go to bed.
Speaker:I'll see you guys.
Speaker:And somebody said, I forgot all you guys are here.
Speaker:Like you're just working with your friends like.
Speaker:You're just doing your thing, you completely forget.
Speaker:And then I was just like bye Keely and hung up real quick.
Speaker:I did the Irish goodbye before she asked me anything because it was time
Speaker:to go, but it was just the time and I, I see the messages later that,
Speaker:you know, it's just a little weave.
Speaker:So getting in a pod where you can work together, probably one of the best
Speaker:things you can do for your mental sanity.
Speaker:I might have to say nothing, but if I want to, I'll say something or crack
Speaker:a joke or, you know, they'll see me,
Speaker:you know, hitting the too in common, as Diana calls it, I keep it, you know, right
Speaker:here on the desk, like, I'm gonna take a shot right in the middle of, of working.
Speaker:But it's, it's very, very helpful, I think.
Speaker:I guess one other question I would sort of like to ask anyone, where do you feel
Speaker:is the future of creating right now?
Speaker:I mean, independent, just everyone can answer.
Speaker:What do, what do you feel is the, the future of content creating right now?
Speaker:We'll start with Keely.
Speaker:Oh, great.
Speaker:I was like, Oh, I can't wait to hear what everybody else has to say.
Speaker:I think it goes back to what I mentioned earlier.
Speaker:The building and public notion.
Speaker:So we talk about how organic videos and reels do really well.
Speaker:I don't think it's the rough and ready part about it that anybody likes.
Speaker:Nobody likes bad audio, nobody likes shaky video.
Speaker:What they like is the fact that they're getting a real insight into
Speaker:what that person is actually like and what their actual life is doing.
Speaker:So I think we're, we're doing that in a, in a meta way
Speaker:about being a group together.
Speaker:But for all of us, I think we're gonna keep sort of stripping back to the, this
Speaker:is what the behind the scenes, this is the real life stuff that's happening.
Speaker:And yeah, building in public's gonna be the big one.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:Rich?
Speaker:Um, I think it's all..
Speaker:Well, I have a different perspective then these guys.
Speaker:Cause I have a real life job and I'm doing this Creator stuff to promote a business.
Speaker:So it's different.
Speaker:I don't know, it's different for me than everybody else.
Speaker:I'm just trying to go where the attention is.
Speaker:If somebody said, Oh, now you need to be on, Be Real, I would probably
Speaker:figure out a way to do that.
Speaker:I don't think I need to do that, but you know, who knows what's gonna happen in a
Speaker:week or even in a day with the next big thing is, but you've gotta get on it.
Speaker:I kind of follow Gary V around.
Speaker:He just tells me where to go and I do that.
Speaker:Smart man.
Speaker:Smart man.
Speaker:Uh, Miss Dina?
Speaker:Creating for the people that, that are coming in for you.
Speaker:So your community, I think, I think that's, that's what's going
Speaker:to be part of the success for us.
Speaker:Very good.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:I think so.
Speaker:Especially for this particular show, the show that you guys are doing is
Speaker:exactly if it's creators in that nature.
Speaker:Um, Mr.
Speaker:Alec?
Speaker:In terms of like the future direction of content creation as a whole.
Speaker:I've got no idea really, but I'm just gonna try whatever is the
Speaker:way that it's going at the time.
Speaker:So that's, that's my whole thing.
Speaker:I'll just try everything and then, uh, all flat my face and
Speaker:share it with all these guys.
Speaker:Nice.
Speaker:And Michelle, what about you?
Speaker:Alec, you just said something.
Speaker:Journey.
Speaker:The journey is not necessarily, you know, whatever's out there,
Speaker:the journey is just ours.
Speaker:It just happens to be.
Speaker:You know, a nurse in Atlanta, a you know, a dude in Texas, a chicken in
Speaker:Canada, another chicken in in Washington, and then another dude in Thailand
Speaker:trying to figure some stuff out.
Speaker:And that's, to me, I think that is the best part.
Speaker:You know, being, you know, having bird's eye view, looking in and seeing what
Speaker:they're doing, and then seeing what we're doing together as a group and how
Speaker:our synergy just kind of like flows.
Speaker:See what I did there?
Speaker:See, I thought you meant took a midnight anywhere.
Speaker:Sorry.
Speaker:Anyway, wrong journey
Speaker:You know, I, I think, here's the thing, and, and, and Rich touched on it a little
Speaker:bit and so did I, like, I think one of the most important things that people should
Speaker:understand is, When something new comes out, I know there's this fear of going
Speaker:into the unknown, but here's, that's when the real estate is the cheapest, right?
Speaker:Anybody that came to California, like in the very beginning and set
Speaker:up land, probably shouldn't have done so cause it didn't belong to you.
Speaker:But anyway, if you set up land, that land is worth bank right now, right?
Speaker:Some of the best land is when nothing else was there.
Speaker:In every city, every country, every piece of software, people that have
Speaker:early domains, domains that came out back in 94 when it was primarily
Speaker:techs, those domains are worth so much money right now because of longevity.
Speaker:I was on Instagram day one, and people feel like, oh, well I don't know if
Speaker:I should be creating a TikTok right now because, because I got a bunch
Speaker:of little stories about themselves.
Speaker:I guarantee you everyone listening to this show, everyone here on this
Speaker:pod, you can ask that same person.
Speaker:So like, Oh man, uh, how's your son David doing?
Speaker:Oh my God, David, I'm so irritated with him.
Speaker:Why?
Speaker:All he does is look at his phone.
Speaker:He is on TikTok like eight hours a day, and I'm like, Did you just hear yourself?
Speaker:What?
Speaker:You just said you don't wanna put your business on TikTok and the
Speaker:same breath you complained about how long your son be on TikTok.
Speaker:Uh, Yeah, I just wanted to let that sink in real quick.
Speaker:So whenever something new comes out, like Rich said, right?
Speaker:Be Real.
Speaker:I don't really need a Be Real account, but you just make one.
Speaker:You block it, you hold it, and the minute you even think there's
Speaker:traction, start working on it because.
Speaker:Is nice to be in that first mover position when everybody else starts coming in.
Speaker:You already have prime real estate.
Speaker:The other thing is the minute they get over a couple million people
Speaker:on the platform and they turn on their advertisement advertisement's
Speaker:cheap on those channels.
Speaker:So if you're growing anything, you gotta be willing to take that dive.
Speaker:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker:So I really appreciate what you guys all said there.
Speaker:Um, I think that can bring a lot of value, cuz even right now, I
Speaker:guarantee there's someone listening to this and they're still thinking
Speaker:about their podcast and they're hearing that podcast in the pandemic
Speaker:before 750, now close to 4 million.
Speaker:Oh, it's too late to start a podcast.
Speaker:No.
Speaker:Get at it.
Speaker:Get at it now.
Speaker:Get at it now while the getting is hot.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:So I guess the last thing, and I love, you know, it's one of my favorite
Speaker:questions, I'm gonna ask it for you guys.
Speaker:What is the question that no one is asking you right now that
Speaker:you wish more people would ask.
Speaker:Anyone?
Speaker:I'm surprised people haven't reached out and asked us how to form their own.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:How we found each other.
Speaker:Good.
Speaker:Yeah, it's interesting.
Speaker:There's a lot of applause, but not a lot of people, and everybody's
Speaker:saying, Oh, this looks so valuable and it looks so great, and it's like,
Speaker:Okay, let me tell you how to do it.
Speaker:Especially on Discord.
Speaker:You know, here's what's powerful about what you just said, Dina.
Speaker:There are quilting circles.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:They get together all the time.
Speaker:They may quilt, then pandemic hit.
Speaker:There's people that have virtual quilting circles, so there's quilting circles
Speaker:just like us with a Creator in each individual portion of the, the planet.
Speaker:And they could still get together and work on their stuff and have
Speaker:these stories and just press record.
Speaker:And it would be valuable for someone else to sit in and listen, right?
Speaker:If, if we were to sit down and do a live quilting circle, I can't sew at all.
Speaker:I think Michelle can, I think we could have fantastic conversations
Speaker:and, and, and help people out because someone is sitting in the house by
Speaker:themself and they would enjoy that.
Speaker:They would pull their gear out and start, you know, sewing right
Speaker:along with you as they're listening to what you're talking about.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:Anybody want to expound on that?
Speaker:One of my favorite pastimes is making jewelry and.
Speaker:I started my live streaming career selling all kinds of stuff on another channel,
Speaker:and I really, really want to dive back into that diy, Make your thing together.
Speaker:It's just very peaceful for me.
Speaker:It's very cathartic for me.
Speaker:And I remember when the pandemic hit the first responders, we couldn't get masks
Speaker:and, and things like that that we needed.
Speaker:We needed PPE and stuff like that.
Speaker:And people, strangers from everywhere, they were like making masks and
Speaker:doing things and then showing up to the hospitals and giving them to us.
Speaker:And that was, that was so amazing.
Speaker:One night I was like, You know what, I've got fabric, you know, I know how to sew.
Speaker:Let's do this.
Speaker:And one night, over a bottle of wine, a sewing machine, and some
Speaker:fabric, we made masks together live and it was so much fun because while
Speaker:I was working and just talking, they were talking back to me and we, we
Speaker:developed something and so I really.
Speaker:Oh my God.
Speaker:I wanna get back to doing things like that.
Speaker:And it's part of the creative process for me, but then also telling stories
Speaker:and we get to hear each other's stories and, and we can relate to
Speaker:other people and they can relate to us.
Speaker:I just think that that is the meat and potatoes of what we're doing is
Speaker:basically sharing what we do with the world and then having other
Speaker:people relate to us and we grow.
Speaker:So, I don't know.
Speaker:I just, I, I, I don't know.
Speaker:I, I, this has just been a really great thing for me.
Speaker:Creatively.
Speaker:We, yes, we're doing digital stuff, but at the same time, you know, if
Speaker:you are a person that likes to create with your hands, hey, this could
Speaker:be something that you could do too.
Speaker:Of course, you know, hanging out with us will figure out how to light it
Speaker:and how to show it and how to do all the things so that you can share it.
Speaker:But I just love it.
Speaker:Fantastic answer cuz you know, I just see, I could just see the visual of people
Speaker:sitting around doing something positive.
Speaker:You know, they got their hands in, they're working and know
Speaker:they're helping people out.
Speaker:You know, that's one of my favorite things.
Speaker:So I could just see the visual of people sitting around, you know,
Speaker:busting a, trying to get this out.
Speaker:So, super, super impressive.
Speaker:Um, I guess the, you know, the big question I'm sure a lot
Speaker:of people have on their mind.
Speaker:Rich, as a person who's pulling all of this stuff together, what would, what
Speaker:do you see is the biggest challenge in sort of the editing process for
Speaker:getting a finished product out?
Speaker:Just finding the time to do it.
Speaker:Cause we're two weeks ahead, so we're.
Speaker:I've got plenty of time to work it in.
Speaker:It doesn't take that long once you get all the files loaded up and I
Speaker:do all my editing in Premiere and then we do a Multicam and nest them
Speaker:all together and do a Multicam.
Speaker:So good switch and it took a few weeks to work that out.
Speaker:And then once I figured out the workflow, it's pretty easy and it
Speaker:takes about an hour and a half, I guess, to go through the whole thing.
Speaker:Once it's all synced up, syncing up, depending on how quality the
Speaker:audio is, whether Alec gives me a file with everybody's voice
Speaker:or just his, that kind of thing.
Speaker:We gotta work around some issues, sometimes.
Speaker:It's not, it's not that big a deal to process it, you know?
Speaker:But everybody's gotta do their own part.
Speaker:Somebody does the thumbnails, somebody does a script.
Speaker:I was just getting ready to ask that question.
Speaker:So how's, how's the division of labor look, Keels?
Speaker:Everybody else is doing lots of work.
Speaker:Okay, I'm getting there.
Speaker:I'm getting there.
Speaker:So we did wanna make it, um, as equitable as we could, but also
Speaker:pull on the different, you know, real skill sets that everybody has.
Speaker:And obviously Rich.
Speaker:Having done podcasts for a long time and knowing Captivate inside and out
Speaker:and, and Adobe Premiere and things like that, he was a natural fit as the editor
Speaker:and now we've got, you know, Dina is doing descriptions because language
Speaker:is one of her biggest skill sets.
Speaker:Michelle is doing, uh, she's doing titles and, and those things.
Speaker:Alex's doing thumbnails and my job is going to be the repurposing.
Speaker:So, getting, getting some quick nibbles to everybody so we can start spraying
Speaker:those out on our, on all of our socials as well as the Creator Pods.
Speaker:So
Speaker:Keely elected herself, our Twitter account, social media
Speaker:manager as well this week.
Speaker:So
Speaker:, Yes, I did that, didn't I?
Speaker:Didn't I?
Speaker:Yes.
Speaker:It's like a, it's like a creator's Voltron, if you will.
Speaker:Now, with that in mind, how does the cross training look, or have you guys started
Speaker:working on the cross training just in case, you know, I don't know, Alec, you
Speaker:know, they changed the laws in Thailand, so what if Alec, you know, just can't
Speaker:do his part one week because he's faded?
Speaker:We haven't done anything about that at the moment.
Speaker:At the moment we are just sort of getting into a rhythm of doing the
Speaker:bits that we have said we're gonna do.
Speaker:The other thing that we are, I think, pretty good at is not trying
Speaker:to do everything by committee.
Speaker:So, you know, I don't sort of chip in and say, Oh, I'm not really keen on that title
Speaker:or that description cuz it's not my area.
Speaker:And I'm very happy and trust all of these people.
Speaker:More than enough to just say, I'm good with whatever you are doing.
Speaker:So that's a big part of the group in general really is that we
Speaker:have got that really sort of deep trust for one another as well.
Speaker:And that goes for what we're doing as the Creator part, but it also goes
Speaker:for actually being in a mastermind.
Speaker:It's so valuable to have that trust for one another and knowing that
Speaker:when people are calling you out on something, you know that it's coming
Speaker:from a place of love, but you also know that they, uh, you know, you,
Speaker:you trust their opinion on it as well.
Speaker:Is that because you lost a battle with the apostrophe?
Speaker:Uh, I haven't lost that battle yet.
Speaker:I'm still, uh, I'm still fighting.
Speaker:All right, guys.
Speaker:You heard it here first, the most important thing, and I swear I've
Speaker:brought this up before, I just want to hammer the point home.
Speaker:When you get into becoming a creator, the most important thing you can do
Speaker:as a Creator is to put the ego in a steel box, lock it down tight, wrap
Speaker:it with three chains, then place that inside of a bucket, fill it with
Speaker:five pounds of concrete, and drop it at the bottom of the nearest ocean,
Speaker:along with the apostrophe
Speaker:along with the apostrophe.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:And now, so what does that look like?
Speaker:I don't have an ego, you know, blah, blah.
Speaker:Yeah, you do.
Speaker:You know how I know you have an ego?
Speaker:Because when somebody says something stupid about you in
Speaker:the comments, you freak out.
Speaker:Why?
Speaker:Because your ego is hurt.
Speaker:So throw the ego away when somebody says, You stupid bald mother.
Speaker:I'm like, yes.
Speaker:And just keep going.
Speaker:I think that's the one part of the ego throw away that people don't get.
Speaker:If you throw the ego away for real, for real, comments shouldn't
Speaker:phase you because you don't have any ego for it to an effect.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:So you heard it first, throw the ego away and then that allows you to probably
Speaker:pull out some of your best stuff.
Speaker:And it's not just about comments, cuz yeah, people can say what they want.
Speaker:Your, their opinion is not your responsibility in that respect.
Speaker:But it's about when you know you've got an idea about something and then somebody
Speaker:challenges you on it in, you know, a very positive way, saying, Well, have you
Speaker:thought about this other way of doing it?
Speaker:You know, trying to drop the ego.
Speaker:Then obviously, you know, apostrophes aside, I'm standing firm on that
Speaker:one, but it's, you know, it's that, that, that point though of
Speaker:being open to another viewpoint.
Speaker:And I think everyone in the group is very, very good at that.
Speaker:That is amazing.
Speaker:All right, man, this has been super dope.
Speaker:I think it's extremely insightful.
Speaker:Number one, let me say, you guys caught me completely by surprise.
Speaker:So the first day you guys told me, I was like, Uh, what?
Speaker:Oh, okay.
Speaker:And then I just, I don't even think I understood.
Speaker:I think I thought I heard what you said, but I think I didn't really
Speaker:understand and I said, You know what?
Speaker:Let me listen to these bad boys.
Speaker:So I binged them in like a single day.
Speaker:And I was like, Holy God, this is so good.
Speaker:I'm like fully yelling at the podcast.
Speaker:I'm yelling at Keely, I'm yelling at you guys.
Speaker:We were, you guys are on some topic about, you know, sort of the Twitter situation.
Speaker:And then I'm yelling, I'm like, Yeah, that's right.
Speaker:Or no, no, no, that's not right.
Speaker:That's not how you do it.
Speaker:Blah, blah, blah.
Speaker:And then so the minute you find yourself yelling at any program, they.
Speaker:They legitimately got you.
Speaker:Whether it's from a positive statements or negative statements
Speaker:or whatever, like they got you.
Speaker:And I'll say, first of all, it's all positive.
Speaker:Like I really love what you guys are doing and I really do, and I can't say
Speaker:this enough, I really do enjoy feeling like I am the sixth wheel, you know?
Speaker:And actually the last, uh, goofing around on Alex channel episode, I actually had a
Speaker:chance to come in and talk with you guys.
Speaker:And that again, it's just...
Speaker:it's a very amazing setup.
Speaker:So nothing but the best for you guys.
Speaker:And I guess any last advice you want to give to anyone
Speaker:here in the Flow Rider, crew?
Speaker:Uh, go.
Speaker:Actually, let's take a piece of advice from each of you because I wanna give
Speaker:you a chance to say your goodbyes.
Speaker:So give your advice and then tell people how they can find you.
Speaker:Let's start with Dina.
Speaker:I'm gonna go with something along the lines of checking your ego at
Speaker:the door, but take pride in what you do, but don't take it personally.
Speaker:Ooh.
Speaker:And you can find me at Silver Lining Home Place on Instagram and YouTube.
Speaker:Dang.
Speaker:Take pride in what you do, but don't take your, Don't take it personal.
Speaker:Sorry.
Speaker:Musical Tourettes.
Speaker:Um, Rich?
Speaker:I think everybody's got something to bring to the table.
Speaker:Whether you think you do or you don't, you probably do.
Speaker:So whatever talent you have is probably valuable to four or
Speaker:five or six or 10 other people.
Speaker:Um, so you know, you can do your part to make something like this.
Speaker:Go forward and you can reach me at Big Promotions everywhere.
Speaker:Nice.
Speaker:Mr.
Speaker:Alec?
Speaker:I guess sort of on a similar line to that, like having everyone's got
Speaker:something to bring to the table.
Speaker:What we've got as well that is that we all had in common was that
Speaker:we were all looking to treat our content creation as a business.
Speaker:And so that's why we sort of formed this as well.
Speaker:We're all doing very different things.
Speaker:We've all got different backgrounds, different types of channels
Speaker:and all that kind of thing.
Speaker:But the one thing that you sort of was common was, yeah, we are
Speaker:taking this absolutely, seriously to become a revenue generating
Speaker:business in all of our individual sort of things that we are doing.
Speaker:So if someone's looking to create a similar sort of pod themselves, make sure
Speaker:that everyone has got that single sort of driving purpose as well, whatever that is.
Speaker:It doesn't have to be, you know, making a business out of content creation, but
Speaker:making sure there is something at the core that everyone is driving toward.
Speaker:So that's what I would, I would say about that.
Speaker:And you can find me at Take One Tech everywhere.
Speaker:Yeah, exactly.
Speaker:Everywhere.
Speaker:Like legitimately
Speaker:OK Michelle.
Speaker:How say you?
Speaker:Oh my goodness.
Speaker:This has been amazing and I think the one thing I would say would be to be open.
Speaker:Be open to the possibility of what could be.
Speaker:You know, don't feel like you know it all, cuz trust you don't.
Speaker:And I think being open to, you know, all the possibilities, being open to
Speaker:direction and just being ready when opportunity strikes is a hundred
Speaker:percent, like a hundred percent legit.
Speaker:So you can find me everywhere at LBC Branding.
Speaker:Nice.
Speaker:I love that.
Speaker:Because opportunity will strike.
Speaker:Like it's coming.
Speaker:Opportunity's always striking that most people just miss it cuz it's so busy
Speaker:complaining about the last opportunity that they missed . So while you're
Speaker:complaining about the last one you miss, you're missing the next one.
Speaker:Like opportunities are like the L train.
Speaker:It's coming.
Speaker:Just be there.
Speaker:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:Uh, or maybe actually the F train's a little less psycho.
Speaker:Maybe we should take the F train.
Speaker:Nevermind it's a New York thing.
Speaker:And the first thing all the way from the north, north, north, North
Speaker:America, Miss Keels, like how say you?
Speaker:A lot of us are a part of various coaching programs or we have mentors and
Speaker:we get a lot from this, and we think, what can we give back to our mentors?
Speaker:One of the things you can do is action what they've done in a way
Speaker:that multiplies what you've learned.
Speaker:So one of the things that we're enjoying about this process of
Speaker:building our Mastermind in public is that we can teach as well and share
Speaker:what we've learned from you and from other sources, and multiply that out.
Speaker:That's why we're all.
Speaker:That's really why we're doing what we're doing is so that
Speaker:it's not just a one to one.
Speaker:It's one to a few.
Speaker:It's one to a bunch, to more, to more, to more, to more.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:We are building, Literally building, so don't just sit
Speaker:back and keep it to yourself.
Speaker:In the process of creation, you are going to be able to encourage other people to
Speaker:do their creation as well, so get to it.
Speaker:Man, it's so dope you said that because I actually have this written down in
Speaker:my notes to talk about in our session today, on, on my stream, is that
Speaker:complacency is the framework of excuses.
Speaker:And then so considering that yes, we are moving and removing at a pace and
Speaker:you know, we're, we're in our pod, we're doing our thing, and in a way, to make
Speaker:sure that we kept the momentum flowing.
Speaker:We kind of had it behind a rock for a minute.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:And what I like is it's not for me to decide, and you guys told me from the
Speaker:gate where we built this, hey, your coach, but we will decide when we're ready
Speaker:to open the door and let everybody in.
Speaker:You did it.
Speaker:I had no clue.
Speaker:And then my first response was, Are y'all fitting to let this out to the world?
Speaker:And you was like, Gangsta.
Speaker:I was like, All right, let's go.
Speaker:We cool with it?
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:So the thing that is so valuable in that is we could have just kept
Speaker:working at what we're doing it.
Speaker:Everybody was moving.
Speaker:But even when you're moving, sometimes you gotta assess, can I move more?
Speaker:What I feel happens to a lot of people, creators, business folks, parents, just
Speaker:individuals by themselves, is you are operating at what you think is a hundred
Speaker:percent, and then the coach will come in and say, Give me one 10, and your
Speaker:mouth will say, But I can't do one 10.
Speaker:Most people.
Speaker:But the select few of us, we are like one 10, let me show you one 20.
Speaker:And you start cranking and you come in at 1 0 8, but that's okay.
Speaker:It's better than the one you were sitting at.
Speaker:You see what I'm saying?
Speaker:So you guys, by adding Keely's famous line, like I had , like I needed
Speaker:to add one more thing for me to do.
Speaker:I think that's the way she phrases it, right?
Speaker:So you went and made this.
Speaker:Even though every single one of us, everybody watching us would
Speaker:say, those guys are like slam busy.
Speaker:You will find the time if you want to.
Speaker:Let's just understand that is just the way it is.
Speaker:You will find the time if you want to.
Speaker:So I thank you guys, for being that inspiration, I thank you guys, thank
Speaker:you guys again for understanding that you had more to give and you
Speaker:didn't allow complacency just because we're quote unquote hashtag winning,
Speaker:stop you from trying to do more and in this case, actually give back.
Speaker:And that's.
Speaker:Find yourself excelling.
Speaker:That's for everyone listening, everyone watching, and the five of you by you
Speaker:guys deciding to share what you're doing, what you're going through, you
Speaker:are giving back and you're teaching other creators apostrophe outside
Speaker:the s how to become better creators.
Speaker:And I for that, I I thank you.
Speaker:I appreciate you guys.
Speaker:You guys made me look good.
Speaker:I'm just saying, I ain't gonna lie.
Speaker:I mean, I was already cute, but now I look extra cute like I got my hair did.
Speaker:Anyway, Flow Riders that wraps up another edition.
Speaker:We're gonna go into q and a right now.
Speaker:I just wanna remind every single one of you on behalf of the Creators Pod,
Speaker:make sure you check that out the links for their show will be in all kind of
Speaker:descriptions, so just go and find it.
Speaker:You can just go Creators' Pod.
Speaker:You don't have to put the apostrophe on YouTube.
Speaker:It'll come up.
Speaker:If you're listening to this, it's in the description.
Speaker:Just click the link, Save yourself the trouble.
Speaker:You can reach us again, any given time at flow Ecamm dot com.
Speaker:Check us out, come and hang out.
Speaker:Be a part of the party.
Speaker:And hey, I'm just saying it's fantastic.
Speaker:We're gonna go into q and a session right now before we go into the
Speaker:q and a, a quick reminder, we do record this live every Tuesday.
Speaker:That is every single Tuesday at 12:00 PM noon eastern.
Speaker:As we're doing the recording, come and watch us come in, ask me questions,
Speaker:come and be a part of the show.
Speaker:Or if you wanna be a part of the show, drop us a line in our many forms
Speaker:of communications and we will see what we can do to get you started.
Speaker:And honestly, the Volley is probably one of the best ones cuz you can
Speaker:just leave a video and that's it.
Speaker:So quick reminder as a thank you for really helping us put this
Speaker:show together, We gotta send much love out to the Speedify Squad.
Speaker:I don't know what they're doing for Black Friday, but honestly, you don't
Speaker:need a sale if you have family members.
Speaker:If you are the nerd of your family, look at giving Speedify away to
Speaker:everyone for Christmas, right?
Speaker:I mean, first of all, it is very inexpensive.
Speaker:The VPN side of it alone will protect your family members for some
Speaker:of the craziness that's going on.
Speaker:I swear to you, when you go to do a bank transaction, whatever, you can just tell
Speaker:'em to have the Speedify box checked and then Paul, Paul, pay your bills, right?
Speaker:You know, do your, do your banking transactions, make sure you're adjusting
Speaker:the will so that I'm at the top.
Speaker:But you wanna do that online with Speedify turned on, because besides being a way
Speaker:to protect your connection when you're doing something incredible like this,
Speaker:a live stream with five people from all over the world, Speedify can also
Speaker:protect your bacon with your security.
Speaker:So make sure you go over to Speedify.com and check it out and
Speaker:just tell 'em Doc Rock says it was a prescription I prescribed.
Speaker:Speedify.
Speaker:It'll be probably one of the best gifts that you'll have give, and trust me,
Speaker:they might not thank you for it, but you will thank yourself for it when they
Speaker:call you up and be like, hey, all of a sudden I can't do my computer because
Speaker:all these things keep popping up.
Speaker:And you would've been like, hey, see you blocked yourself from having a problem.
Speaker:There you go.
Speaker:There you go.
Speaker:Let's dive into q and a.
Speaker:The rest of you people listening at home, we will see you
