Speaker:

What's up people.

Speaker:

Welcome to The Flow.

Speaker:

This is your man, Doc Rock, your community manager here at Ecamm.

Speaker:

And I am still being jury sequestered in Hampton, Virginia.

Speaker:

Anyway, gang, we are doing The Flow.

Speaker:

This is the podcast where we show you the ins and out of starting a podcast,

Speaker:

but our approach is slightly different.

Speaker:

We are on the video first way of doing podcasts, and this has

Speaker:

been very interesting as of late.

Speaker:

Because as we spoke about recently, YouTube has added

Speaker:

a podcast tab, if you will.

Speaker:

And we are still flushing that out.

Speaker:

But from the conferences that we've been to over the last couple of weeks and the

Speaker:

conference that we're going to next week, I don't even know what week it is anymore.

Speaker:

Next week.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

We just had a whole meeting about this, like 20 minutes ago.

Speaker:

Anyway, the next conference that we're going to, again, it's gonna be a lot

Speaker:

of people talking about podcasting, but from a video first approach.

Speaker:

I will not sit here and pretend that we pioneered it, but we are

Speaker:

definitely beating that drum.

Speaker:

We're gonna keep talking about it until it becomes real.

Speaker:

Yeah, that's it.

Speaker:

That's the plan we're gonna talk about until it becomes real.

Speaker:

Absolutely.

Speaker:

We're on like an event kick right now.

Speaker:

So we were at Podcast Movement last week, two weeks ago, and next week we're coming.

Speaker:

I know.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

It's all a blur.

Speaker:

Next week we're heading to Content Marketing World in Cleveland, the

Speaker:

following week, we're gonna be at People of Video in New York.

Speaker:

Then we're doing Leap into Podcasting, which you just saw a trailer for.

Speaker:

So hopefully you will join us for that, cuz everything that we learn and that

Speaker:

we're learning and everything that all of our friends and contacts know, we

Speaker:

are literally giving to you for free.

Speaker:

So there is not a better time to join us on this mission to get

Speaker:

video first podcast out there.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

You know, my favorite thing is I like when I hear commercials.

Speaker:

I like them so much that I start to imitate the commercial.

Speaker:

So I can do that one too.

Speaker:

Leap Into Podcasting.

Speaker:

Wait, that is commercial Leap.

Speaker:

It's not, it's not actually a real imitation cause it's me.

Speaker:

But, uh, yeah, so this is gonna be fun.

Speaker:

When we did our first Flow, I actually got a DM from Janice, Janice Anderson

Speaker:

Robinson, Janice had asked like, sort of what is our flow for The Flow?

Speaker:

I gave her a brief rundown.

Speaker:

I was like, yeah, it's real simple.

Speaker:

We have a thing we know we're gonna come in.

Speaker:

We're gonna do our intro.

Speaker:

And then if we have any promo materials or stuff to talk about, we'll do that.

Speaker:

And then we'll do some basic sort of housekeeping if you will.

Speaker:

And then after the basic housekeeping, we will go in, do the show

Speaker:

and after the show do Q and A.

Speaker:

And she's like, yeah, but do you have that like in the sheet?

Speaker:

And I was like, what?

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So I happen to be a checklist.

Speaker:

I think.

Speaker:

So I'm a checklist person.

Speaker:

I make checklists before I travel.

Speaker:

I make checklists for different things.

Speaker:

Before I cook, I check the ingredients, make sure they're all there.

Speaker:

I think it's a military leftover.

Speaker:

I am a checklist person, but I never really wrote out what my show flow was

Speaker:

cuz I just did it from memory, I guess.

Speaker:

Feeling.

Speaker:

Deep, feeling.

Speaker:

Deep feeling.

Speaker:

Yeah, I guess feeling, but I find that even for my own show, because

Speaker:

I got yelled at, by Keely who was like, look, dude, you need to do

Speaker:

these things in a certain order.

Speaker:

And I was like, okay.

Speaker:

So I tried it and I liked it.

Speaker:

And then Stephanie had her tool that was also designed to help you

Speaker:

do a run of show, the virtual show maker, which was also pretty cool.

Speaker:

So I've gotten, I think, into a habit of doing a run of show, even though you

Speaker:

don't realize that you do a run show.

Speaker:

Does that make sense?

Speaker:

I think so.

Speaker:

It's funny.

Speaker:

It's I feel like run of show or show flow or the workflow for your show.

Speaker:

There are a ton of videos and just an insane amount of content out

Speaker:

there, even just on our channel about the right way to do it.

Speaker:

But it all comes down to really thinking through what you're

Speaker:

going to do with your content.

Speaker:

You know, it innately.

Speaker:

And I think that's the point that people get a little bit stuck on.

Speaker:

So everything that we talk about today is absolutely applicable

Speaker:

to what you are creating.

Speaker:

But the important thing to keep in mind is what do you want to do with your content?

Speaker:

In the podcasting space, you wanna turn it into an audio podcast and

Speaker:

get it out across different channels, but you probably also want to be

Speaker:

able to use that video in a bunch of different ways, use those audio

Speaker:

clips in a bunch of different ways.

Speaker:

And so thinking through how you approach your flow and where the content is going

Speaker:

is gonna be really important to having a successful show flow or run of show.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

What do you really need in order to have a decent run of show?

Speaker:

A pen and an index card.

Speaker:

That's about it.

Speaker:

No joke.

Speaker:

No joke.

Speaker:

I have actually started working on what I thought would be the most

Speaker:

universal for people in the community.

Speaker:

So, it's not completely flushed out, but for the people listening at home,

Speaker:

I am currently on the screen showing a PDF that I've started to put together

Speaker:

in Apple Pages, believe it or not.

Speaker:

And the only reason why I started it in Pages versus some other tool, it's cuz I

Speaker:

started doing this on my iPad, sitting in the backyard, watching the barbecue grill.

Speaker:

That is glorious.

Speaker:

Glorious.

Speaker:

That was the only reason why there may have been whiskey involved.

Speaker:

So look for any typos, but I was literally just sitting there

Speaker:

watching the stuff on the barbie.

Speaker:

That was for my friends in Australia.

Speaker:

I probably did that wrong.

Speaker:

I don't know if Justin Brown is listening, but I literally

Speaker:

was just tending to the grill.

Speaker:

And so I had my iPad out there.

Speaker:

And for some reason, I just thought about Pages as a simple way to do it.

Speaker:

But in theory, you can literally just start with an index card or,

Speaker:

you know, Rocketbook is great, cuz you can erase them and it's, you

Speaker:

know, more eco friendly if you will.

Speaker:

But yes, I just started throwing together a list in Pages.

Speaker:

So to give you an idea of some of the sections that I started working with.

Speaker:

I wrote in my intro.

Speaker:

So if I have any intro paragraph, you know, I left that blank, cuz

Speaker:

that will change from time to time.

Speaker:

And then what we normally do is, in the past, if you watch the live tapings or

Speaker:

watch the video version, even, I guess, sort of listen to the audio version, we'll

Speaker:

have topic one, topic two, topic three.

Speaker:

And then we'll go into the synopsis, if you will, a closing argument.

Speaker:

I'm sorry.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Round up.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Round up.

Speaker:

There we go.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I was going into, I've been watching legal shows.

Speaker:

What can you do?

Speaker:

And then, and then we'll go into a brief outro.

Speaker:

Of which right now we still don't have a polished outro, but

Speaker:

sooner later we will get to that.

Speaker:

Like this episode of The Flow has been brought to you by Ecamm

Speaker:

Live a product of Ecamm Network.

Speaker:

Ecamm Live is the greatest live streaming software ever if you are a Mac user.

Speaker:

And then we'll be like, this show was produced by such and

Speaker:

such and such edited by Luis, Mr.

Speaker:

Camera Junkie.

Speaker:

And then we can say things like using the tools of Ecamm Live,

Speaker:

Descript, and Captivate FM.

Speaker:

That's a good way to do an outro if you will.

Speaker:

And of course, the reminder to everyone, and this is your reminder.

Speaker:

Now this is a demonstration, but it is an actual reminder.

Speaker:

So you can do both.

Speaker:

If you haven't already, go over to the iTunes podcast application

Speaker:

and leave a review for The Flow.

Speaker:

If you are enjoying the content that you are receiving, because reviews and

Speaker:

sharing are the best things you can do to support your favorite podcasters.

Speaker:

Absolutely.

Speaker:

And it's really that easy.

Speaker:

So, you know, the more formulaic and outlined that you make it the easier it

Speaker:

is to do all of your episode planning.

Speaker:

We've, as we just said, have been traveling nonstop and attending

Speaker:

a ton of events and there's a lot of other stuff that's going on.

Speaker:

So there are times where we're thinking on the fly to get this show together,

Speaker:

but it's really easy with this show flow because we know that we have the topic.

Speaker:

What are the three questions that we're gonna ask and answer, and then the

Speaker:

wrap up and it makes it just so much easier for us to curate the content.

Speaker:

It also makes it way easier on the repurposing side, which is

Speaker:

one of the reasons why having a run of show is so important.

Speaker:

If you wanna repurpose the content into, let's say a blog post or

Speaker:

shorter video clips, if you have those three points or you, you know,

Speaker:

three questions that you're asking.

Speaker:

Doc even makes it so much easier because he actually visually

Speaker:

brings them up on screen.

Speaker:

So it's just so easy to clip those individual points, right?

Speaker:

So you need a podcast editor that was from last week, right?

Speaker:

Then we know when we're looking at this video, that's the point

Speaker:

where we're gonna clip it.

Speaker:

That's the point where we're gonna grab that transcript and be able

Speaker:

to fit that into a blog post.

Speaker:

It has made the repurposing and editing and post production side significantly

Speaker:

easier and faster for us because we have this very specific flow and

Speaker:

we stick to it every single week.

Speaker:

Well, yeah, I think the other thing is certain things sort of become

Speaker:

muscle memory, you just know.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And what I always like when you get to the area where you have sponsor breaks,

Speaker:

for instance, I like when the hosts know how to segue into a sponsor break.

Speaker:

Now this is something that you're gonna have to make a choice on.

Speaker:

And I will try whenever possible to tell you when this is something

Speaker:

that you make a choice on versus this is a hard and fast rule.

Speaker:

Truth be told, almost all hard and fast rules are applicable to be broken, but

Speaker:

the reason why they tend to be hard and fast rules is because they work.

Speaker:

Now, my boss when I was in radio, Mr.

Speaker:

Alan Ota, he always said never foreshadow a commercial.

Speaker:

Never, never, never.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

They don't wanna lose listeners, right?

Speaker:

So, because on the radio, when you're driving, it's funny now, cuz we don't

Speaker:

hardly do this anymore, but on the radio when you're driving, Katie

Speaker:

and I have a long road trip from Massachusetts to New York coming up

Speaker:

very soon, and somebody would come on and be like, Hey, this DJ David Hunt

Speaker:

and after the break, we're going to...

Speaker:

as soon as he say, after the break switch channel, I'm like, I

Speaker:

don't even to hear the rest of it.

Speaker:

Cause we know that we're about to lose that music act that

Speaker:

we're trying to listen to.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

So there is a way as you practice to segue your commercials without telling

Speaker:

people that you're going to commercials.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Mm-hmm, telling someone after the break is a way to make them leave.

Speaker:

It's a good break point.

Speaker:

It's a good place for them to stop.

Speaker:

And considering the video version of your show, YouTube, and actually I

Speaker:

believe Spotify and Apple Music as well, they do track session time.

Speaker:

Session time means open the app, press play on a particular thing.

Speaker:

If that thing allowed a person to stay on the platform for X amount of consecutive

Speaker:

time it gives that person algorithmic.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

So if your video, your Reel, your TikTok, your podcast is the procuring cause of

Speaker:

somebody sitting down and listening to a particular app or using a particular

Speaker:

app for an hour, you actually get credit for being the person who started that.

Speaker:

You know, so you don't want to give people a break point, like a easy run

Speaker:

to the bathroom, grab a beer, change the station, switch topics, if you will.

Speaker:

So think about that when you do your breaks.

Speaker:

So say Descript was a sponsor right now.

Speaker:

They're just a tool that we use, but they're not a sponsor of the show.

Speaker:

We could say something about, you know, text to speech is getting really, really

Speaker:

incredible, and you'd be marveled by how powerful text speech is and what you can

Speaker:

do with it as a way of expanding your brand or creating articles and the various

Speaker:

touchpoints you need for marketing.

Speaker:

Speaking of which let's talk about Descript.

Speaker:

Natural flowing, easy segue as opposed.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

We're gonna take a word from our sponsor.

Speaker:

Be careful of that.

Speaker:

When you put those things in your notes.

Speaker:

I think that's usually important and we'll be, I mean, we are going to be bringing

Speaker:

on sponsor ads and videos and things like that predominantly to show you what the

Speaker:

process is going to be like as well as.

Speaker:

To just talk through, you know, what are the tools and the other brands that we

Speaker:

work really closely with on this show.

Speaker:

So I think that'll be helpful and certainly any questions that you

Speaker:

have as, as we start introducing those, we'd be happy to hear.

Speaker:

But yeah, that's a really good point.

Speaker:

And that's when we don't often think about as much when we're kind of with

Speaker:

our live streaming hats on it's a little bit less common to do in like

Speaker:

a live stream show, but certainly very common to do on a podcast.

Speaker:

So planning that out, if that's something that's important to

Speaker:

you, I think is really important.

Speaker:

So, you know, maybe its like your flow is your intro, your welcome,

Speaker:

your first question, ad break, your second question, ad break.

Speaker:

Being able to really think through where those breaks are and how

Speaker:

they flow is gonna be important as you're planning out each episode.

Speaker:

Nice.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So something else that you might wanna add to your planner, if you will,

Speaker:

and again, people you can do this in, Canva, Pages, Microsoft Word,

Speaker:

Google Sheets, whatever you have.

Speaker:

It doesn't even have to be pretty, cuz no one's gonna see it, but yourself.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

If you like pretty things, knock yourself out.

Speaker:

I know if Michelle Lawrence was around here, she would

Speaker:

style hers up exactly perfect.

Speaker:

But just, this is just some of the things you might think of.

Speaker:

So the key elements again are I have are the name of the episode.

Speaker:

I have any guest information.

Speaker:

If I have that at the ready, because I might want to give my guest instead of

Speaker:

my cohost in this case, I would want to give her social medias and give

Speaker:

your guest an opportunity to market or share whatever it is that they're

Speaker:

currently using as their top funnel.

Speaker:

So for instance, if Keely was our guest, I know that we know her

Speaker:

channels and things like that.

Speaker:

And she has two.

Speaker:

She has her umpire thing.

Speaker:

She has her Discord for Creators.

Speaker:

But right now coming on to Discord for Creator thing, I was like, do

Speaker:

you have a special promo or something that you want to do in the show?

Speaker:

So get that information, write that in as well.

Speaker:

I think it's helpful.

Speaker:

You don't have to, these are some of mine.

Speaker:

I put the date recorded and the episode number.

Speaker:

And once I'm done, I write down the episode link because some of your podcast

Speaker:

apps for instance, Captivate, if you tell it these things, it will use that as part

Speaker:

of the metadata when you go up there.

Speaker:

So again, we got our intro, our topic, outro, leave yourself some room for notes

Speaker:

at the end, so that there's any links or anything that you need to put in.

Speaker:

But then I like in that note section, a place to remember where something super

Speaker:

rad was said, or a great question was said in the past couple of episode, If

Speaker:

someone in the audience, cuz we do record this live on Tuesdays at 12:00 PM Eastern.

Speaker:

See what I did?

Speaker:

I do a screenshot and I screenshot those questions because those questions

Speaker:

might become something that we can generate an episode for later.

Speaker:

Like this question.

Speaker:

This question literally came from Janice sliding into my DM asking me,

Speaker:

Hey, what does the show flow look like?

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

Yep.

Speaker:

And then something else that you might think about.

Speaker:

On that same sheet.

Speaker:

If you have space, leave yourself your recording checklist

Speaker:

and your editing checklist.

Speaker:

And I think this is important because it's a reminder to you to make

Speaker:

sure that your Ecamm is recording.

Speaker:

If you have the RCP running a backup.

Speaker:

Or you're running a secondary backup.

Speaker:

For instance, one of the things I pressed on the mic that I'm

Speaker:

using today, I'm not in my studio.

Speaker:

So I'm using the Rode video mic NTG.

Speaker:

One of the modes has a safety channel.

Speaker:

So I put the safety channel on just in case.

Speaker:

So what it does is it gives you a strong lift.

Speaker:

But then the right channel, they attenuated by like 10 decibels.

Speaker:

So that way, if you were peeking or whatever, they could use the lower channel

Speaker:

and pick it back up because digital recording nowadays, you have room to play.

Speaker:

So do things like remember to set the safety channel, remember to

Speaker:

check the battery in the cameras, remember to make sure that Katie

Speaker:

is not Luis, things like that.

Speaker:

So those are some of the things that you might want to add to your checklist

Speaker:

that never changes every episode, cuz they're basically the same.

Speaker:

But give yourself room that again, if Keely was the guest and she asked

Speaker:

for something very specific, like Katie wear that sweater because you

Speaker:

know, they're Canadian, represent.

Speaker:

You can do your thing.

Speaker:

You know, Katie, you need a USA sweater now, by the way.

Speaker:

I know I do.

Speaker:

I do.

Speaker:

I need a USA sweater.

Speaker:

I would say, too, on that note that once you have, you know, your handwritten

Speaker:

or typed up or whatever, your show flow structure, And you are doing a

Speaker:

similar workflow to what we are doing, where if you're starting with video,

Speaker:

which we hope you are, or starting with live streaming, you can then build out

Speaker:

your profile in a tool like Ecamm to be able to have all of your graphics.

Speaker:

Your guest name, you know, all of that already ready to go before you hit

Speaker:

the go live or the recorded button.

Speaker:

So it's like notes first and then you're able to build it out.

Speaker:

And then each week it literally just comes down to being able to changing

Speaker:

the cohost's name back at the bottom, or adding in maybe a couple of different

Speaker:

graphics or things that you're gonna be talking about, but the structure

Speaker:

is all there and doesn't change every single week and it's in the right

Speaker:

order so you're already ready to go.

Speaker:

And you have those visual reminders, you know what your countdown

Speaker:

timer, your intro scene looks like.

Speaker:

You know what the main points are gonna look like.

Speaker:

It just makes sure that you're not gonna forget anything.

Speaker:

And that everything looks exactly the way that you want it to.

Speaker:

So having the notes is great and I think is the absolute place that

Speaker:

you should be starting, whether it's whiteboarding or writing or drawing,

Speaker:

however you wanna put them together.

Speaker:

And then getting them into whatever tool you're using each week to actually create

Speaker:

or record, build that content is awesome.

Speaker:

So that you just have all of those templates ready to go.

Speaker:

You're saving yourself a ton of time.

Speaker:

Absolutely.

Speaker:

I wanna show something else real quick here, again, for the people at home,

Speaker:

I am showing the PDF, but you can understand this just from the notes.

Speaker:

One of the areas that I didn't put, and I think I should, because I just

Speaker:

noticing a question from the audience instead of this reflection section.

Speaker:

I'm gonna probably change this to sponsor section, because that way I can remember

Speaker:

to add any sponsor slash affiliate reads.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

Mm-hmm so if I have any special sponsor or affiliate reads, I might put that

Speaker:

there instead, because that's a good way to remind myself to go ahead and

Speaker:

say that I know that I am often teaching the people for the Ecamm Live affiliate.

Speaker:

Again, if you are Ecamm user and you're not an Ecamm Live affiliate

Speaker:

yet, you should do that now by going to affiliates dot Ecamm dot com.

Speaker:

It's a reminder because I've done many, many shows where I've completely forgot

Speaker:

to mention my affiliate associations, which is one of the things that you can

Speaker:

do to help you monetize your podcast.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

So when you're using something like Captivate or question came up today about

Speaker:

Epidemic Sound about what is the track that we're using, things like that, add

Speaker:

those to your show notes, but if possible, people do work better from the live read.

Speaker:

So you want to say something to the nature of our intro music was Egg Rollz

Speaker:

by Jo B and I forgot the other person, but it's on Epidemic Sound and you can

Speaker:

get that by going to Epidemic Sound dot whatever, whatever your link is.

Speaker:

Paul knows mine.

Speaker:

He'll put it in the chat down there, or at the end, y'all I'm

Speaker:

gonna talk about gear or something.

Speaker:

You might say this show is produced with, and you can find the full gear

Speaker:

list for what we produced this show with in the show notes, things like that.

Speaker:

Those are great for yourself to make sure that you are monetizing

Speaker:

what you're working with.

Speaker:

It'll become more easy to have the energy to keep going.

Speaker:

Let's put it that way.

Speaker:

Those are always the questions that come up on, on any podcast

Speaker:

or on any video that you're doing.

Speaker:

It's whatever you're talking about, people want to know, you know, more about

Speaker:

those things, especially if you're doing something that is tutorial based or you're

Speaker:

helping people figure something out.

Speaker:

I think it's not salesy as much as just a need.

Speaker:

People wanna know, you know, where that is.

Speaker:

People are always asking what microphone Doc's using or what, you

Speaker:

know, what tool we use to do that, or how we're bringing this or that in.

Speaker:

I think it's something that's perfect.

Speaker:

And again, perfect to go into the outro, which we don't have yet, but will.

Speaker:

So if you miss doing it during the middle of the actual podcast itself,

Speaker:

it's certainly something that you could just build into your, into your

Speaker:

outro that would be the same every single week, so that you're, you're

Speaker:

setting that expectation and you don't have to think about it as much.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

The last thing I wanna add, and I think this is a thing to remember, because

Speaker:

this is something from, from B school.

Speaker:

Business school.

Speaker:

My teacher was like, your mission statement is a live document.

Speaker:

Your business plan is a live document.

Speaker:

Your run of show should be a live document.

Speaker:

For instance, there's going to come a point like, oh, this

Speaker:

go round for instance, right?

Speaker:

This is the first show of the month.

Speaker:

As a way of giving back to the Ecamm community we could have a section

Speaker:

where we highlight our members of the month and congratulate them.

Speaker:

And thank them.

Speaker:

That's something that they currently do on our show, ENN, but that could

Speaker:

be something that you would add in.

Speaker:

If you had a community member of the month that you might put in, or you wanna

Speaker:

give props to someone in your community who generated a great tutorial or great

Speaker:

article, a birthday section, shoutouts, wedding anniversaries, baby announcements.

Speaker:

You can have a place to put that in so that you are giving that

Speaker:

thing back to your community.

Speaker:

Now it's something in Ecamm we try to do as much as possible is

Speaker:

let our community members shine.

Speaker:

But as you are creating your podcast, see if you can't either, you know, grow

Speaker:

some ideas from us or other people where you give your community a chance to shine

Speaker:

because the community building is the key.

Speaker:

It is the absolute key.

Speaker:

Yeah, I think, I think that was the last one.

Speaker:

I just wanna make sure that you remember make your document so that it's easy for

Speaker:

you to be flexible and make adjustments.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So it will be a living, breathing document as well.

Speaker:

And then once you fill out your run of show, if you have a guest, remember to

Speaker:

send it to the guest, something that Yvi and Stephanie and Kirk always did.

Speaker:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker:

Was send us what the run of show looks like.

Speaker:

So that way they know what to expect when expecting, wait, that's a book.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And it, it just helps guests understand, too, like what the time commitment is.

Speaker:

You know, you asked me to say like, sure, I'm happy to join, but they don't

Speaker:

necessarily know that they'll be on for 40 minutes or an hour or 10 minutes or.

Speaker:

So understanding, like what the questions are that they'll be asked, how long the

Speaker:

show normally is, how long they can expect to be on, whether there's an after show.

Speaker:

All of those things are things that a guest may not even think to ask, but

Speaker:

would really value knowing upfront.

Speaker:

That's it, I think that's it.

Speaker:

That's the sort of the run of show.

Speaker:

So yes, in the beginning, start out maybe with some index cards and paper ink, you

Speaker:

know, just scratch it down then after you start to develop a feel for how

Speaker:

you like it, go ahead and put those guys into something that's easily fillable.

Speaker:

So Pages works because you can generate it as a fillable PDF.

Speaker:

It's something like Illustrator or even Canva.

Speaker:

Canva, you will make it as a PDF, download it, and then you have to run it

Speaker:

through a PDF fillable type thing, like Adobe Acrobat or there's websites that

Speaker:

will help you generate a fillable PDF.

Speaker:

But, Hey, you could also open in like Good Notes or Notability

Speaker:

on an iPad and do it there.

Speaker:

Yep.

Speaker:

So make it easy for yourself and just remember to be flexible.

Speaker:

And if you miss something, you just fix it later.

Speaker:

So last thing about that outro, for instance, if we forgot to say

Speaker:

it, once we record it once, if the information hasn't changed, you're

Speaker:

able to just pick it up from the last episode and place it back on.

Speaker:

When we were at Movement, I'm trying to get my shows together.

Speaker:

The team over at Captivate told Rich something really incredible.

Speaker:

And I didn't get a chance to circle back with them yet, but

Speaker:

they have a service on their side.

Speaker:

It's called Amy and it's kind of a AI media something.

Speaker:

So for instance, you can take your intro, your middle read, what

Speaker:

they call Midroll and your outro and you can make them dynamic.

Speaker:

What that means.

Speaker:

Oh, cool.

Speaker:

This being our sixth recording of The Flow, which means that next

Speaker:

week show with Aubrey will hit our master seven . So we did it.

Speaker:

We're done.

Speaker:

We're done.

Speaker:

See you later.

Speaker:

See you later.

Speaker:

You will be, we would be able to like, change all the midrolls to be Leap

Speaker:

promos because of this month mm-hmm

Speaker:

And if there were any specials coming up for something or Black Friday,

Speaker:

or, you know, Ecamm 25th anniversary or whatever, we could change that

Speaker:

role, it will change on every podcast played that's not downloaded.

Speaker:

Like if you play in a player like, um, I don't know, overcast or something,

Speaker:

as opposed to download the episode.

Speaker:

It will pop all the way through, which is incredible because it's

Speaker:

awesome to have a elastic spot.

Speaker:

If you will, we're gonna dig more into learning how to do that

Speaker:

so that we can do that for us.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

There you go.

Speaker:

The one last thing that I wanna say before we jump over into live

Speaker:

Q and A is that as you as you, and we hope you join us next time.

Speaker:

So if you're listening and you're not here, live with us, you can catch us live

Speaker:

12:00 PM on Tuesdays on YouTube Eastern.

Speaker:

But the last thing that I wanna say is that really, really as you're building

Speaker:

out your show flow and you're getting comfortable with doing it regularly it's

Speaker:

following the same process is to make sure that you, again, think through what

Speaker:

you want, what you may want to do with that content as far as repurposing goes.

Speaker:

You know, again, the structure that we have is really focused on having

Speaker:

this live studio audience, but we don't wanna antagonize any of our

Speaker:

listeners who are not here with us live.

Speaker:

So we don't take any questions from our live audience, even though you're

Speaker:

all sitting here watching, and we see your questions coming through, we leave

Speaker:

that to the beginning and the end, so that it's easy for us to trim that

Speaker:

content off, to be able to only get the content that matters to the people who

Speaker:

want to listen in the way they want to.

Speaker:

To it, you know, we're not gonna put live questions on screen or we're not

Speaker:

gonna make it really hard and make an episode that's all really super

Speaker:

visual when we have podcast listeners who aren't actually watching us.

Speaker:

So think through some of that, especially as it comes to the structure

Speaker:

that you might not want to take live questions or kind of behind the scenes

Speaker:

stuff in the middle of the episode, because it'll be much harder for

Speaker:

you to trim that out and to edit it.

Speaker:

Correct.

Speaker:

Correct.

Speaker:

I think there, the way you can do it is if your people.

Speaker:

Again, we do have this.

Speaker:

It's just no one does it yet.

Speaker:

Everyone does it live, which is cool.

Speaker:

You can say, if you have a question and you want to get it on the podcast, please

Speaker:

send us an email at flow Ecamm dot com.

Speaker:

That's F O w ECA m.com.

Speaker:

So you can preload your questions.

Speaker:

I believe what normally happens with the Community is the question comes to them

Speaker:

while we are live, as they're watching while we do the live taping, which is

Speaker:

why live video first is the move people.

Speaker:

This is the secret sauce.

Speaker:

Like you're literally finding out that secret sauce is basically ketchup and

Speaker:

Mayo mixed with relish and dreams.

Speaker:

McDonald's, it's easier than you think.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

It's easier than you think.

Speaker:

So, because the questions do come up at the time.

Speaker:

Like Ronnie had a very, very good question.

Speaker:

Even without putting it on screen, I'm able to work it into the conversation

Speaker:

without reading the whole question.

Speaker:

So that's some of the stuff that you'd be able to do, but yes,

Speaker:

people can preload their questions.

Speaker:

And in that case, I think it is cool because if you preloaded

Speaker:

questions, we could do question of the week of the week of the week.

Speaker:

Hey, I got a question, you know, you'd be able to do some kind of cool promo.

Speaker:

And then the person who got the question of the week, you'd be able

Speaker:

to give them a shout out, let people know about their show or whatever.

Speaker:

So there's some way you can gamify that if you would love to

Speaker:

have that as part of your thing.

Speaker:

Right now, we're just lucky we have a very active studio audience,

Speaker:

and that gives us time to sort of do it live here on the show.

Speaker:

So I think that's a very, very valid point there.

Speaker:

Ms.

Speaker:

Kate.

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

I think that's all I had as far as genius.

Speaker:

Uh, genius points, I think.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Like anything else

Speaker:

Post vacation genius points.

Speaker:

Take time to, to think it through.

Speaker:

Post vacation genius points on this cold day is all the same advice

Speaker:

we give you every single week.

Speaker:

Take some time, think it through, scope it out, plan it out,

Speaker:

write it out and then do it.

Speaker:

stop overthinking it and just do it.

Speaker:

The main thing is to just start.

Speaker:

I have been sitting here over the last couple days, trying to generate

Speaker:

an acronym for start that has to do with our video first podcast.

Speaker:

I have it written down on my paper, some other things.

Speaker:

So, yeah, it's just kind of funny and I'm glad you mentioned that part about

Speaker:

repurposing, cuz that might even be something that you put in your show

Speaker:

flow to remember to get those mm-hmm

Speaker:

So for instance, you might want to be able to tease the next week's

Speaker:

episode and you know that you want to keep that within side 90 seconds so

Speaker:

that you can generate that as a Reel.

Speaker:

Or maybe your platform you use is YouTube.

Speaker:

So you might want to keep that inside 60 seconds, 59, actually.

Speaker:

So you want work that in and say, Hey, as a reminder, guys, don't forget, next

Speaker:

week, we're gonna have a special guest Aubrey Howell Robinson's gonna come on.

Speaker:

And then she's gonna be talking to us about her podcast, which is really cool.

Speaker:

It's called the Morning Minute or something like that.

Speaker:

See, now I forgot what it's called.

Speaker:

I'm sorry.

Speaker:

Don't shoot me.

Speaker:

So, um, you'd be able to kind of, like rock that out.

Speaker:

Man.

Speaker:

Oh, it's a minute-ish.

Speaker:

That's what it's called.

Speaker:

It's the super funny, cuz it's not quite a minute.

Speaker:

It's a minute-ish morning.

Speaker:

It's a minute-ish motivational.

Speaker:

Minute-ish that's what it is.

Speaker:

There we go.

Speaker:

I got it out.

Speaker:

Anyway.

Speaker:

You'd be able to put that in your show.

Speaker:

So you set those up and again, you know exactly where you can clip.

Speaker:

This has been another episode of The Flow and what we do and remind

Speaker:

you is that there is a live taping.

Speaker:

And if you ever like to come to the live taping, to be able to slide your

Speaker:

questions, And just be part of the fun.

Speaker:

I mean, we have like 35 people rocking right now and they're already throwing

Speaker:

their questions, which we hang around and answer those after you can always do that.

Speaker:

By going over to our YouTube channel, we're Ecamm Live on YouTube or

Speaker:

youtube.com/ Ecamm Live, and you will find us every Tuesday at 12:00 PM eastern.

Speaker:

Also, this recording comes out a week later, so you kind of get the

Speaker:

information with a week head start.

Speaker:

That's the best.

Speaker:

And again, if you'd like to send us questions, you can at flow F L O w

Speaker:

Speaker:

Any the last words, Katie?

Speaker:

I'm just I'm thinking, as you're saying that we need like a fun term for like,

Speaker:

we have the Ecamm Fam, but we need.

Speaker:

We need like a flow community nickname.

Speaker:

We're gonna have to think about it.

Speaker:

If anyone has genius nicknames for what we should call all y'all who are sitting

Speaker:

here, hanging out with us, let us know.

Speaker:

We're some bad

Speaker:

mow flows.

Speaker:

yeah, you can some bad.

Speaker:

This is fun.

Speaker:

This is fun, guys.

Speaker:

Appreciate you.
